Back to School w’ Essential Oils

When starting with back to school, what comes to mind first? For me, I think of
– Immune system crashing
– Bacteria
– Anxiety
– Stress
– Tiredness, ect ect
I think because of all of this, it is SO important to stay on top of your A-game and make sure you have all the right tools to set you up for a successful start for back to school!!!!

This journal post I am sharing with you, is based on a day in the life of what I do in my home, to help us go back to school with ease. Enjoy

#1-Wake Up Refreshed

Diffuse your oils, let the kids help pick out some blends too.

Peppermint, Wild Orange, Motivate, Bergamot, you name it, grab all of your oils that will help with energy and uplifting the mood.

This is especially good for us mama’s as we are also adjusting and will need some good pick-me-up blends in the morning so we are not walking around like zombie mama’s!!!

Fresh Start Diffuser Blend

2 drops Lemon
2 drops Wild Orange
1 drops Lime
1 drops Grapefruit

Rise & Shine Diffuser Blend

1 drop Spearmint
2 drops Tangerine
2 drops Lime

Bright and Fresh Diffuser Blend

2 drop Peppermint
2 drops Lemon
2 drops Lavender

#2-Support Healthy Immune Function

Use your On Guard (protective blend) DAILY. Rub it along your spine (kids spine) and bottom of feet.

The “FLU BOMB” is an incredible blend of 5 beautiful oils.
~On Guard
~Lemon
~Tea Tree
~Oregano
~Frankincense

Mix 5-10 drops of each oil into a 10ml roller bottle, then top up the roller bottle with FCO (Fractionated Coconut Oil)

Use the “FLU BOMB” for no more then 10 days at a time, and use it when you or your child is starting to feel sick, some great places to rub this roller on is, spine and bottom of feet.

FOR ADULTS: Place 2 drops of each oil into an empty veggie capsule 2-3x a day at the onset of a cold or flu.

MULTI-VITAMINS – This is something literally EVERYONE needs to be taking.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Always eat health nutritious foods/brain foods, like

#4-Ease the School Jitters

Let’s make our kids stay as calm as possible, the first week of school is sometimes very stressful for our little ones, let’s try to make it as stress free as we can.

One tip I do is I like to have my kids get their backpacks prepared, at the beginning of the school year, they get to pick and choose their own roller bottle of choice, and choose the oils they want to go in it.

Mason always chooses “Cheer” which is our Uplifting Blend”, he applied it to his wrists every morning before school and always keeps it in his bag for if he needs it at School.

Mila, well Mila is a huge Lavender gift. She keeps it simple, and apply’s lavender and it helps her immediately to breathe and calm herself down.

Let us not forget about us moms (and dad’s), create your own blend for yourself too, lets get real…back to school for us is sometimes not an easy task either.

#5-Boost Clarity + Alertness

Staying focused at school (or work) can often be challenging. dōTERRA’s InTune (Focus) essential oil blend is a proprietary blend of essential oils that work together to create an aid for moments of distraction. This blend can be applied topically to enhance and sustain a sense of focus.

This is hands down my number 1 oil I use at work everyday, as well as I roll this on the back of my kids neck before they head out the door for school.

Ingredients in this blend include:

  • Amyris Bark
  • Patchouli Leaf
  • Frankincense Resin
  • Lime Peel
  • Ylang Ylang Flower
  • Hawaiian Sandalwood Wood
  • Roman Chamomile

This blend is a perfect study companion and can support the efforts of those who have difficulty paying attention and staying on task. A definite must have oil in every home!!!!!

#6-Promote A Restful Sleep

Good sleep is the single most important factor in increasing alertness, as well as sleep plays an important role in your physical health. For example, sleep is involved in healing and repair of your heart and blood vessels.

Researchers have found one big reason sleeping is so important, is the effects it has to your brain. … During sleep, it flows between the brain cells and acts as the waste removal system of the brain. While the rest of the body’s organs have fluid from the blood flowing through them to remove waste, the brain relies on this fluid.

How much sleep do we need?
While sleep requirements vary slightly from person to person, most healthy adults need between 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night to function at their best. Children and teens need even more. And despite the notion that our sleep needs decrease with age, most older people still need at least 7 hours of sleep.

Here are some tips to help promote a restful sleep!!!

  • Lower the lights
  • Turn off technology
  • Turn on soft music
  • Turn on Himalayan Salt Lamp (himalayan salt lamps claim that the negative salt ions released by heating can boost blood flow, improve sleep, increase levels of serotonin in the brain, and calm allergy or asthma symptoms
  • Turn on the diffuser (my fav evening blends include, Serenity (Restful Blend), Balance (Grounding Blend)
  • Have a bath with 1 cup of Epsom salts and add essential oils to it, we enjoy Lavender baths, other great oils for relaxing include,Roman Chamomile, Vetiver, Frankincense, Myrrh, Cedarwood, and the list keeps going.
  • Sleep early (it is SO important to get a full nights rest)
  • Read a book before bed & use your oils!!! Copaiba is my current favourite oil to use on myself for sleep, 1 drop on why foot and it’s good-night!
  • Have your kids create their own sleepy time roller and apply to bottom of feet nightly before bed. Miss Mila’s Sleepy time Blend includes lavender + cedarwood 💞Sleep early, be fresh, be happy & be awake!!!!
